Service Pools Grid

This grid allows you to maintain the list of Service Pools. These pools can be used to group Services(IDs) together. PCR-360 does not keep a standalone list of Service IDs; instead, we have all Services (Active, Available, Inactive, etc) listed in the Services section. These services can be applied to a generic catalog and belong to multiple pools. When made Active either manually or from Service Desk, there is no maintenance required on a list of Service IDs. The number remains in the pool it started in but is just not available for new requests. And when taken out of service and made Inactive the number remains in its pool even after the aging process.

Service Catalogs

This tab allows the User access to Add and Remove Service Catalogs to a pool. This adding of a Catalog to a particular Pool means that any Service that belongs to that Catalog or the ancestors of that Catalog can be added to the pool.

Service

This tab allows the user access to Add and Remove Services to this pool. Services can be added from the existing Service list or by Adding a Range of new Services (only for Phones). Services must belong to one of the catalogs specified on the Service Catalogs tab or an ancestor. Removing a Service from the pool does not delete the Service it only disassociates it from the Pool.

Bulk Updating the Pools

Pools can be added/removed from services in Bulk from the Service Bulk Update screen at Main > Services > Bulk Update. Specifying pools on a Service Bulk Update will completely remove all existing pools for the selected services and replace them with the selected pools. Each service must belong to one of the catalogs or an ancestor catalog specified in the selected Pools.

Ordering from the Pools

Drain Pool

The Drain Pool button will allow a User to dissociate ALL services from a given pool. Simply select the pool that needs to have its Services removed, and click the 'Drain Pool' button. Once clicked, the Services will be emptied and the 'Pool' can be used for other purposes. This will only remove the Services, not the associated 'Service Catalogs'.

Service Catalog Restrictions

When a Service is part of a Service Pool the type of Service Catalog it can be made into, becomes restricted based on the Catalogs associated with the Service Pool. This restriction becomes present most noticeably on Service Desk Upgrade/Downgrade Actions when a User attempts to change the Service Catalog of the Service but attempts to change the Service Catalog through Bulk Updates or the API are also limited by this restriction.
