Syncing Parent Equipment updates to its Children

When a piece of 'Child' (2024.1) Equipment is created, it is created using information provided by it's 'Parent'.  When the Parent is updated, those updates do not proliferate to its Children.  In order to have updates pass on from a Parent record to a Child record, a Custom Event would need to be set to trigger every time an update was made.

Things to consider:

  • It may be undesirable for ALL Parent Updates to be transferred down to Children Records (what fields should trigger the update?).

  • It is important to think about how deep these updates should be made (should Children of Child Records be updated when the Parent is?).

  • This relationship is not related to Catalogs or other Hierarchical Tree information (such as Locations, Departments).
