.Best Practices Bookmarks v2.1.4.7

Custom Bookmarks

Bookmarks are extremely powerful because of their ease of access in PCR-360 with the 'Bookmarks Bar' (see above) which are located at the bottom of the screen in all areas of PCR-360. Custom Bookmarks should be added in a particular way to ensure the application functions best.

To 'Add' a custom Bookmark click the 'Add Custom Bookmark' button.

This will open the 'Add Custom Bookmarks' form.

Internal Bookmarks

When creating a Bookmark to any page or grid in PCR-360, it is considered 'Best Practice' to use the short syntax link to create the 'Bookmark'. Using the Short syntax method will help prevent unexpected behaviors when traveling to the bookmarked page. The User should locate the text in the link that follows '.com', '.edu', or '.org' etc. and copy ONLY that text into the link. For example, assume that the User wanted to create a Bookmark to the Equipment Catalog as a 'Custom Bookmark'.

The full URL path for this page is 'pcr360.pcr.com/eqp-catalog/'. In this case, the User should ONLY select the '/eqp-catalog/' to copy into the 'Link Location' field as in the example below.

The User can then fill in the 'Display Text' field with some descriptive text. In this case, 'Equipment' is shown. When the text is in the form is filled, it should look like this:

Finally, the User can click the 'Save and Close'  button, and the Bookmark will be saved into the Bookmarks Bar:

When creating a Bookmark to any page outside of PCR-360, it is considered 'Best Practice' to use the full syntax link to create the 'Bookmark'. For example, assume the User wanted to create a link to the Google homepage. For this, the User should copy the full URL as in the following example:

The User can then add a 'Display Text' of Google and then click the 'Save and Close' button.

The Bookmark will be added as in the example below:

Note: All external links will always display with the 'Linked Chain Icon'  as in the above example.
